Chris Bowen Specialist Transport

CBST, a national and international abnormal load specialist, is owned by Chris Bowen, running ten vehicles from their depot in Wednesbury. With demand for their flat bed and low loader transport services increasing, Chris came to Secondhand Trucks to source an additional unit.  

I had considered new but soon dismissed it having seen lead times and Euro 6 prices. I spent a bit of time trawling the market for a DAF with a manual gearbox, until a good friend of mine recommended I try Matt at Secondhand Trucks, having bought a truck himself off Matt a couple of years ago. I liked what I heard from Matt; he had the spec I needed and offered a great deal on a DAF XF. I was assured that I didn't need to look around the truck and that I would be happy with the end product, so bought completely over the phone. Whatever I needed, Matt sorted for me, kitting the truck out with alloys, Kelsa lo bar and top bar, as well as an all-white cab paint.

The whole process from start to finish was brilliant. We had a deadline for Monday morning, but Matt had it ready the Friday before. On collection, my driver was with Matt for all of 15 minutes before he was off to Glasgow to do a job that afternoon.

I've had brand new vehicles in the past and I would say this is just as good a finish with a better service. The truck itself was absolutely immaculate inside and perfect on the outside too. I was actually pretty gobsmacked at its condition for a used vehicle. Whoever had driven it before at Maritime had really looked after it.

Without a shadow of a doubt I would recommend Matt. There's no need to buy new when you can get a vehicle like the one I've had, all at a fraction of buying new.
