G Woodcock & Son

Geoff Woodcock and his eldest son, Nicholas, are third and fourth generation owners of G Woodcock & Son, Oldham-based hauliers established more than 75 years ago. Looking to replace one of their eight units with a Euro 5 Mercedes, Geoff chose ex-Maritime because of their reputation for high-quality vehicles.

We used to buy new but it's too expensive now, we've found second hand is much more cost-effective, so when the time came to replace one of our older vehicles, I went in search for a used unit in first-class condition. I've been in the industry for many years and know Maritime well, seeing their motors on the road every day and you can tell they are well looked after, so the logical thing to do was to choose Secondhandtrucks. Matt had a few units to choose from, but we have a preference for Mercedes, and with the price right for the year we went with a three year old Actros, finished in the company silver and red.

I went to Tilbury to pick up the unit and my impressions were that it was a first class unit. Everything that Matt promised us had been done and to a high standard. The paint job was spot on and the interior was spotless. Sometimes you find issues down the line when buying used, but I really cannot grumble. Our new Merc is proving to be very fuel efficient and is performing well. I'd definitely recommend Secondhandtrucks' units to anyone. I might be after another soon myself.
