Brendan O'Reilly

Brendan O'Reilly has been providing specialist bulk tipper transport services in the Republic of Ireland for more than ten years. With the demands of tipper work taking their toll on his old unit, Brendan went in search of a 44 tonne artic that could cope with the heavy loads.

It was actually in Commercial Motor that Secondhandtrucks units first caught my eye as they looked like new. Coincidentally, a friend of mind had seen one of their units in Dublin and spoke highly of what he'd seen, which was good enough for me. When I spoke to Matt he promised to deliver me a truck that was like new so there was no need to look at the lorry and kick the tyres.

I alternate my truck between DAF and Scania but went for a '60 plate DAF FX105 this time, mainly because it was great value for money. I went for a few modifications too, including cab paint, a PTO for my tipper trailer and a six spot Kelsa top light bar.

I live a fair few miles from London but that wasn't a problem as Matt shipped the truck to me all the way to Rosslare where I collected the truck. When the truck arrived it really was as good as new, exactly as Matt said it would be. I didn't want to fork out for another new lorry and when you can get one that looks as good as new, I don't see why you would buy one.

From experience in buying used, broken or missing parts is something that you see fairly regularly, but it's not something I've had with the truck I bought off Matt. If you want a proper used truck which is as good as new, I would definitely recommend Secondhandtrucks.
